Certified Instructor

I started doing yoga in college. I went to a variety of different yoga classes, but I will never forget my first Bikram class. It was in a tiny studio in Durango, Colorado with a couple of friends. We all cried like babies and had no idea what we were doing. I was attracted to the heat and the intensity of the class. I knew in the back of my mind that if I committed myself to this yoga, it would change my life. The seed was planted, but I traveled abroad and kept trying a variety of exercises and types of yoga.

When I lived in South Korea I used to take a Hatha class and the teacher, who spoke very little english, would come up to me and tap the back of my leg saying "very sick, very sick!" I was always extremely inflexible and had very poor circulation, but the acceptance and space that yoga gave me to work on my body provided a foundation for me to begin a practice. After a year in South Korea I spent a month in Thailand fasting and practicing yoga. This is when I knew I didn't just want to do yoga but I wanted to live it. I came back to the states lived in New York and Colorado working as an artist assistant, waitress/starving artist, raft guide and the list goes on, but my yoga practice stayed consistent. I was automatically attracted back to Bikram because of the heat, the consistency of the practice and the intensity. I then realized that I wanted to take my practice to a deeper level and become a teacher.

Becoming a Bikram yoga instructor has been such a blessing and honor. I went to the training Fall 2006 and secretly loved every moment of the intense 9 week training course. I then went to teach in Chicago for 6 months, Baltimore for 3 months and I am thrilled to be in San Rafael now. I am inspired every day by the people who practice Bikram yoga. It is such a gift to practice and teach!
